I would say you all blew me away with your kindness and willingness to help as usual, but it wasn’t as usual.
It was above and beyond, over the hills and through the woods, ain’t no mountain high enough, ain’t no valley low enough, ain’t no river wide enough kind of helpful advice from the depths of your heart and from hundreds of combined years of priceless breastfeeding experience.
Even more than the 100+ comments I’ve had on the blog, I’ve received countless Facebook messages, emails, and phone calls from sweet friends of mine who took the time to read my frustrated, end of my rope ramble on breastfeeding and jumped to my rescue.
I am amazed to tears from the love and support you all gave so freely.
Since that post, I am so happy to report that we’ve already been doing much better over the past couple days… fingers crossed it continues. The pain has lessened which I’m sure is due largely to prayer and secondly to heaven sent nipple shields! The encouragement couldn’t have come at a better time since it seems my baby boy has hit a growth spurt since last night and has been eating seemingly non-stop. This momma with her new confidence has been handling it in stride – so far.
I feel compelled and humbly obligated to combine and share all of your information you offered me for other new mommies and ladies seeking help and encouragement with breastfeeding. One day {hopefully soon!} I’ll put together a post {or 2, or 3, or 4 posts… you all said A LOT!} with that information and add to it my own experience.
Thank you again from the depths of my mammary glands heart!
YAY!!!!!!!!! I am sooooooooo glad the advice helped. After posting a comment and going back to read other comments, I agree......YOU HAVE SOME FANTASTIC READERS!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd seriously.....PRAISE THE LORD for nipple shields and guards. I loved both of them.....they truly were life savers.
So happy to hear that. Growth spurts are exhausting for nursing moms. Drink lots of fluids!
ReplyDeleteHa, you are so sweet. I think we could be good friends in "real life." :) I'm the one that sent you a (long, sorry) email. Glad you're doing better! Oh growth spurts. Just get through it... it only lasts about 3 days, promise! My son nursed just about every hour. I didn't think I'd survive, but me (and my boobs) did! Little Houston is so, so precious. Great job, Mommy!!!
ReplyDeleteBaby Houston really looks a lot like Nick! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you're doing well!
These are such precious images. Reading your post took me back to when my children were this age. Such special days you have...=)

ReplyDeleteI am glad things are getting better! It does get easier as baby gets older. He is so so so cute!!
ReplyDeleteOh yay!! So happy to hear that things are going better. Keep up the good work lady! Those pictures of Houston are ADORABLE!!!
ReplyDeleteglad to hear things are better:)
ReplyDeleteI had a horrible time! Let's just say I pumped for Ava for almost 9 months! Yes, 9 months! Thank God for hospital grade pumps!
ReplyDeleteYes! Please! I would love to read that combined post on breastfeeding, for real! We are expecting our first in March and I really want to breastfeed but am terrified by all the experiences I have seen and heard about...I am NOT confident that I can do it but really want to! Any encouragement or advise you could lend would be so helpful:) So glad you and baby are doing better!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say in my comment that we all go through those struggles breastfeeding-it's not easy! Kuddos to you... I know you're doing a great job.
ReplyDeleteYAY!!!!! SO happy to hear you're doing better!!! I'm so proud of how determined you are, Houston is one lucky baby! Way to go Mama!
ReplyDeleteGlad you took mine and how many other mamas advice! Haha breast shields are so stinking awesome.. :)
ReplyDeleteCan he be any cuter.. Good grief..
I'm having baby fever.. Just a little bit.
That is great news! I talked to your mom yesterday and told her about the awesome "plastic nipples" Haha! She said you had some. I used those with Sydney the 1st month or 2 because she couldn't latch on. Nursing seems like it would be the easiest thing in the world, but it really isn't! You should have seen Taryn and me when they brought Bryce in for his 1st feeding! We had no idea what to do! I was grabbing her in places I never imagined!
ReplyDeleteHang in there! Glad that it is getting better!
Hang in there. The first 3 weeks are the hardest. You feel like a human milk machine! Try to have a glass of wine at night, you deserve it and I am convinced it helps with supply :)
ReplyDeleteYour baby boy is SO precious. I can't get over his little face. He's perfect. And he's really not helping my baby fever <3
ReplyDeleteBisous!
Hello! I was given your blog to visit from a friend. My son Wyatt will be 2 weeks old tomorrow, and I can completely relate to the breastfeeding woes! While latching has recently improved, our biggest hurdle is now our sleepy baby who falls asleep mid-feed! I've been told it WILL get better soon, though some days I'm not sure I believe that. I hope that breastfeeding will continue to get easier for you (and me!). Hang in there! :)
ReplyDeleteyay. so happy to hear this. I've been thinking about you ever since the post. super glad things are well now. adore this post. I hope you had a great weekend. I'd love to hear what you think of my latest outfit post. xoxo

I'm so glad it's getting easier! I had a feeling it would soon!
ReplyDeletejust found your blog, congrats on your new bundle of joy! i can't wait to follow and watch your baby grow :D
ReplyDeleteHi! So glad breast feeding is getting better for you! I am currently breast feeding a 3 month old. I would caution you about the nipple shield. I used one with my first baby who is now 22 months old and I am convinced that it messed up my supply. I don't think she was able to get the milk out, and then my supply went WAY down because my body didn't think I needed to make more, and then I could never get my supply back up. I just didn't get the stimulation that I needed with that thing over my nipple. I ended up having to supplement and then I had to just give up at 4 and half months. My supply this time has been GREAT! During the first weeks I wanted to use the shield so bad because of the intense pain I was experiencing... I had terrible blisters. Ouch!!! I pushed through the pain and finally I'm feeling good! Intense pain on your nipples can also be a sign of a yeast infection, so keep that in mind. I have had A LOT of those. Anyway, sorry this is so long, but I just wanted to caution you. Congratulations on your baby boy!!
ReplyDeleteThere Is Obviously a lot to know about this. I suppose you made Some Great points in the Feature also.

Good job I enjoyed reading your post thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteNice post Amazing, I found your site on Bing looking around for something completely unrelated and I really enjoyed your blog. I will stop by again to read some more posts.
ReplyDeleteYou really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be really something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post.
