In just a couple of days we’ll be 28 weeks and unbelievably, the last time I posted was a picture of Houston and I at 24 weeks. Time is flying!
We have been B-U-S-Y these days. Between both Nick and I putting in lots of overtime at work and our days off jam-packed with to-do lists, weddings, and fun with friends and family visiting – my precious little blog has been completely and utterly neglected. I haven’t even written about our “babymoon” in Vegas yet and it’s already been over a month since we got back!
So I have a lot of making up to do and can’t believe even one sweet follower emailed me yesterday checking to see if all was well – I was so touched! {and kicked in the butt that I better start blogging again…}
It seems completely appropriate to me that this past week’s belly picture was taken at work – my second home ;) It was definitely a slow day in the pharmacy on Memorial Day, so what better way to pass the time:
27 weeks (plus a few days…)
I’m sure it goes without saying, but we’re getting much bigger, folks!
I find each and every update I read about Houston unbelievable. He is now around 2 1/2 pounds and a whopping 16 inches long.
Holy cow.
He warms my heart each and every day with his {not-so-little} kicks and rolls. I’ve really begun imagining a little baby in there lately {instead of just some wiggle worm in my tummy} and it’s even harder to believe he still has 12 weeks to triple in size!
I’m still feeling excellent and while I couldn’t ask for a better pregnancy, there have been a few not-so-positives lately… but I wouldn’t call them complaints!
I don’t know how babe is positioned in there, but it sure does seem like he’s been mistaking my bladder for a soccer ball lately. That and just his pure weight baring down on that sensitive little organ combined have put us in a couple predicaments that have almost made it to the hall of fame for my most embarrassing moments. We’ll just end this by saying I am now deathly afraid of coughing or sneezing in public now…
=)
My energy level has depleted some, though I’m not sure how much of that is truly the pregnancy. Our lives are going a million miles a minute right now and the Kentucky weather has done a 180 lately from cool and breezy to 90 degrees and muggy. I find myself waiting till 8 or 9 at night to walk the dog and even then, we BOTH pass out on the couch afterwards.
I’m completely out of breath now too with very little exertion. Nick even asked me very seriously the other day while walking together if I was going to pass out – which made me laugh. Of course I was yap, yap, yapping while walking which leaves even less ability to catch my breath, but I felt fine – I just need to breathe MUCH heavier these days. He even says I’m breathing much louder while sleeping. Undoubtedly, Houston’s stealing all my oxygen!
On the upside, I haven’t experienced any heartburn, hemorrhoids, constipation, insomnia – or any other nasty little side of effects of pregnancy… YET. I’m sleeping like a rock at night and haven’t even started to use my pregnancy pillow. I’m still {mostly} comfortable!
I’ve been chalking a lot up to height lately and that my long torso is helping this situation tremendously. I have no clue, but it seems to me that being shorter would make it much more difficult to do a lot of the simple things, like bending over, right about now and I already have enough trouble in that department as is. Thank you awkwardly long anatomy!
A reason to breathe a little easier these days – the nursery has finally been painted!
This truly feels like such a weight has been lifted by my wonderful mother-in-law and handsome baby-daddy.
All that’s left is the wainscoting in white and the walls will be finished!
We chose Stone Mason Gray by Valspar which I think will be a wonderful backsplash for all the color I’m about to throw at this room. You can see the super soft and cozy nursery rug here from Overstock which I am gaga over.
This is now the cleanest room in the house! I never thought I’d say that about this room since it use to be the second guest bedroom that rarely got used and evolved to more of a catch-all junk room. We’ve taken the 4-Runner to Goodwill twice now and still have more to go. I couldn’t be happier that it finally feels like we’re getting ready for baby. I know the summer will fly by before we know it and HE’LL BE HERE!♥
I couldn’t end this post without giving a big shout-out and Happy Anniversary to my darling parents. I am always so thankful to have such loving parents that even love each other(!) and even more grateful to be able to model our marriage after their wonderful example. They are the rock of our family and I am tickled pink excited to see them as grandparents soon to our Houston.
Happy 37 years, Mom and Dad!
Love,
I love the paint color and the wainscoting! I can't wait to see the finished room! You still look adorable! I'm glad that you are having a good pregnancy. :)

You look great!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your unfortunate potty incidents : ) Luckily I have not experienced that 'symptom' yet!
I feel like passing out after short walks too...the heat certainly does not help!
The baby's room looks great! I am so super excited for you and you look adorable!!! Good luck! This heat is killer for sure, I can't even imagine being pregnant in it-Mom's are amazing thought, they seem to be able to stand anything!!!
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable! I love the wall color and rug you've chosen for the nursery! Looking forward to seeing the completed project :)
ReplyDeleteYou are adorable!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am with you on the long torso thing. I slept like a rock throughout my pregnancy with no "going to the bathroom 500 time" syndrome. I did have a little heartburn, but it was during the last few weeks.
Love the nursery color and looking forward to finished project pics!
Happy Anni Mr. & Mrs. Dye!!! My parents are celebrating 37 years today too!!!
Love that pic of your parents - happy 37 years! You're the most adorable pregnant lady, I'm so happy to hear everything is going well. I've been looking for a rug like that for a loooong time, thanks for sharing, I need to go check out Overstock!
ReplyDeleteI had to comment and say how funny... because today is my parent's anniversary too, and stranger still, it's their 37 year mark too! So two very lovely weddings happened back on 6/1/1974. :-) Congrats to your parents, and I'm glad to see you are back to blogging!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I can't post this comment as anything as "anonymous" so my name is Jessica.. just so you know I exist. :-)

YOU LOOK ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE AND WONDERFUL! Can't wait to see more of the baby's room ;)
ReplyDeleteOh so happy to see the update. So so glad all is well....busy will be your norm for some time to come. And the Depends will be a way of life. My kids are 13 and 9 and I still have to cross my legs to sneeze or cough and even jumping up and down....like on a trampoline.
ReplyDeleteTake care and looking forward to the next update.
New reader and follower. Adorable pic of you and your baby to come! Blessings
ReplyDeleteYou look great! I have a long torso too and I really didn't start to get uncomfortable until the end. I didn't mind being pregnant at all!
ReplyDeleteYou looks so cute!!! You are almost there---
ReplyDelete:) Have a great day!
Kelly
I was beginning to wonder about ya.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know everything is okay.
I can't wait to see the room once you have it completed!
A little off-topic, but I didn't know you had Meijer in Kentucky! My Mother-in-law works at the Meijer pharmacy here in Traverse City, MI.

What a sweet post. So happy for you. You look great, and seem ready. Look forward to news as it comes :)
ReplyDeleteI was wonderin' what you've been up to! ;) Glad everything is going okay and that the pregnancy going well! I can totally relate about the laughing/sneezing/coughing thing....I remember thinking a few times that Depends would have been a safer bet than regular ol' undies! Ha! The nursery looks great and will look so pretty when you have everything in it's place! Can't wait to see what you do!
ReplyDeleteTake care!
Gail
I've been following you through Dave and Brit Plus One MORE for a while now. I'm glad to know you are okay! I was getting worried after a few weeks with no posting. I LOVE your formly anonymous blog, too! You look adorable, by the way!
ReplyDeleteLoving the nursey color and rug! Can't wait to see what else you do to the room, I'm sure it will be awesome. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I wasn't the only one concerned about you not posting :) I kept thinking and hoping that everything was ok with you and Houston. I'm happy to hear that you're doing so well with the pregnancy and haven't had a lot of problems. Enjoy the days as they will go by so quickly!! Can't wait to see pictures of the finished nursery.
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures of your home and I can't wait to see the finished nursery! Have a happy summer pregnancy!
ReplyDeleteYou are so adorable, love the belly pic!
ReplyDeleteAnd happy Anniversary to your parents!
Oh gosh you look so cute! I can't believe you are 27 weeks already!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you have in store for the nursery :)
You look great, as does the nursery! I hope the rest of your pregnancy continues to fly by!
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up with the Depends. Keep them on hand because it can be worse AFTER the baby's born. Coughing, sneezing, even running are all a bit of an issue these days. Guess those kegels are no joke. Good luck! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm very jealous of your long torso right now. I'm 26.5 weeks along and only 5'1". Bending over is getting quite difficult. But other than that, like you, I don't have any major complaints.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see you blogging again! I was excited that we were about the same # of weeks and liked reading your story- please continue :)
You are too cute! I absolutely LOVE the color you decided on in the nursery. I love that it's not your traditional baby blue. Houston will really be able to grow with that color, and it looks amazing in contrast to the beadboard. Can't wait to see the final product!
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic and I love the color you picked for the nursery! Happy anniversary to your parents!
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic and I love the colors in Houston's room!
ReplyDeleteLove that I found a fellow pharmacist's blog! AND that you took a belly pic in the pharmacy! : ) How is it being pregnant on your feet all day?
